TOMS RIVER, NJ – COVID-19 vaccines are scarce in New Jersey as supply can’t keep up with demand, but getting a vaccine is not completely impossible. Today, the Ocean County Health Department issued a “tips and tricks” memo advising residents on how they can get in the COVID-19 vaccine queue.
Scroll down below to see the full FAQ issued by the Health Department.
The Ocean County Health Department today advised residents to routinely check their website to see if appointments become available. Each day appointments are canceled and new ones open up, the department said. When a person cancels an appointment, they open up a new appointment that day. You better be quick, because the department said those openings don’t last long.
As far as appointments from private vendors, they are all on a waitlist right now. You can visit the following websites to put your name on a waitlist. Many people are opting to put their name on several waiting lists. If you do choose that route, remember to go back and cancel your spot in line after you get your vaccination.
Here’s today’s status at each of the available COVID-19 vaccination points in Ocean County.

FIND ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING COVID-19 VACCINATIONS HERE:
Q: I preregistered for the COVID-19 vaccine with the state on the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System. Does that mean I automatically have an appointment for a vaccine with OCHD when I am eligible?A: It’s important to understand that the state and county sites are separate and when you become eligible for the vaccine you will need to visit us at the www.ochd.org website to make an appointment for one of the Ocean County COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics. However, we kindly ask for your patience as we are experiencing a much higher demand than supply of vaccine at the moment._____________Q: What is the number to the NJ Vaccine Call Center? The State’s toll-free vaccination hotline (1-855-568-0545) is available to pre-register individuals, answer questions, provide contact information for sites, look up registrations, and schedule appointments with participating vaccination sites. However, due to limited vaccine supply, appointments continue to be limited. The hotline is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.NOTE: Callers will have to contact vaccination sites directly for support in making appointments for sites that are not using the State’s scheduling system. Call center staff only have the capability of registering and scheduling users in the New Jersey Vaccine Scheduling System.(NOTE: The NJ Vaccine Call Center will not be able to schedule an appointment at one of the OCHD Vaccination Clinics, you will need to visit us at the www.ochd.org website to make an appointment for one of the Ocean County COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics. Would I be able to show up at the end of the day, without an appointment, and receive a vaccine?A. No. The OCHD does not offer/have any “leftover” vaccine at the end of the day due to the fact that all of our vaccine supply is accounted for. We schedule our appointments very tightly, so if there is a cancellation and/or missed appointment – even later in the day – it will be made available on our clinic site and will typically be booked within minutes. This is why we urge everyone to visit www.ochd.org several times a day to see if an appointment has become available._____________Q: I received a confirmation screen for my appointment at one of the OCHD Vaccination Clinics. However, I did not receive a confirmation email. Do I still have an appointment?A: Yes, if you received a confirmation screen then you still have an appointment scheduled even if you did not receive a confirmation email.
