WILMINGTON, DE – Last Saturday, at approximately 8:30 a.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Franklin Ave in reference to a burglary report.
When the officers arrived, they learned from the victims that their home had been broken into while they were asleep in upstairs bedrooms.
The victims explained that they observed, via surveillance footage, two unknown women entering their residence through a first-floor window. Multiple items were missing including two computers, two cell phones, and a toaster oven.
Additional footage showed the two female suspects behind a neighboring residence and showed one suspect that was described as an Asian female carrying the toaster oven away from the area. This was at approximately 1:40 a.m. on the morning of the 21st.
Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigation Unit Property Squad then assumed the investigation.
Surveillance footage from earlier in the morning was recovered and it showed the same two suspects attempting to enter a rental van in the 1000 block of Greenbank Rd.
The investigation was then linked to another burglary that occurred on the same night in the 1300 block of New St. The investigation then revealed that the two women in the surveillance footage were in fact 19-year-old Rachel Beblo and 20-year-old Melina Frausto. Both women reside in the 1300 block of Read Street, in the City of Wilmington.
On August 26th, detectives authored and executed a search warrant at the Read Street address. During this search warrant, both Beblo and Frausto were taken into custody; stolen property, taken from New Street and Franklin Ave, was recovered and also seized.
Both women were transported back to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged. They were both charged with two counts of felony Burglary 1st, one count of felony attempted Burglary 1st, three counts of felony Conspiracy 2nd, three counts of felony Theft, and two counts of misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, each.
They were also both arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and each released on $3600 unsecured bail.
