TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s lead over challenger Jack Ciattarelli grew once again, to 40,000 votes as last-minute mail-in ballots continue to be counted across New Jersey.
As of noon on Thursday, Phil Murphy had 1,246,865 votes to Ciattarelli’s 1,206,341.
On Wednesday, Murphy held a victory celebration in Asbury Park, but the Ciattarelli campaign has yet to concede defeat. Instead, Ciattarelli’s campaign spokesman Stami Williams said Ciattarelli may wait until all votes are counted. The Ciattarelli campaign has also hinted several times at a challenge to the election.
On Wednesday, the RNC announced it will send a team of lawyers to New Jersey to help Ciattarelli’s campaign in a possible upcoming legal challenge to the election results.
