BROOKLYN, NY – New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez this week said that the IOC has implemented a play out of colonial racism after it barred Sha’Carri, the Team USA track star who tested positive for marijuana from participating in the Olympic Games this month. Richardson qualified for the 100m dash on June 19th
“The criminalization and banning of cannabis is an instrument of racist and colonial policy. The IOC should reconsider its suspension of Ms. Richardson and any athletes penalized for cannabis use. This ruling along w/ IOC denial of swim caps for natural hair is deeply troubling,” the radical liberal Congresswoman tweeted.
“The IOC should reconsider its suspension of Ms. Richardson and any athletes penalized for cannabis use,” the former bartender demanded.
Marijuana was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency this year and could carry a ban of up to four years. Richardson said she smoked weed to cope with the emotions she was going through at the time after the passing of her mother.
“I apologize for the fact that I didn’t know how to control my emotions or deal with my emotions during that time,” she said, throwing out some athletic superiority. “Who am I to tell you how to cope? Who am I to tell you you’re wrong for hurting? I just say don’t judge me because I am human. I’m you, I just happen to run a little faster.”
After qualifying, she said, “I am an Olympian, no matter what they say.”
Except of course, if you’re the ICO and you just violated Olympic anti-doping regulations…then you’re not.
