Woman being beat by boyfriend choked him out, killed him, according to police

JACKSON COUNTY, FL –  On Thursday, January 14th, 2021 at approximately 5:35 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a female stating that she and her boyfriend had been involved in an altercation at their residence on Maridale Rd. west of Marianna.

The caller advised that she had been physically attacked by her boyfriend and was not allowed to leave the residence. The altercation, which began in the bedroom, eventually moved into the living room, where the male subject reportedly tackled the female to the floor and began choking her. The female, in an effort to free herself, began to choke the male. During the struggle the male became unconscious and the female was able to leave the residence. The female then drove to the intersection of Maridale Rd. and Hwy 90 where she called 911 and waited for Law Enforcement to arrive.

When the first Deputy arrived on the scene, the female reported that she left the male subject lying on the floor just inside the front door of the residence. The Deputy found the male subject unresponsive and immediately initiated CPR.

Jackson County Fire Rescue arrived on-scene shortly thereafter and took over life-saving efforts, transporting the man to Jackson Hospital. He never regained consciousness and passed away on Friday night, January 15th. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday, January 19th by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Panama City, Florida. The investigation is on-going as the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office awaits further results from the autopsy. At the conclusion of the investigation, the findings will be presented to the 14th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office for review.
