Traffic stop in Lincoln yields gun, meth

LINCOLN, CA – It was a bad day for a man and his passenger driving along the Sterling Parkway. Police pulled their vehicle over for a code violation and found more than they were expecting.

According to police, at about 12:15 AM on December 16 a Lincoln Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on Lincoln Boulevard at Sterling Parkway for a vehicle code violation. The driver, 43-year-old Gary Mitchell of Auburn was arrested for a Sacramento County warrant (possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia) and for driving while his license was suspended. He was released on citation and the vehicle was towed.

The passenger, 47-year-old Marcelina Hernandez of North Highlands was found to be in possession of a loaded, concealed firearm, approximately 6 grams of methamphetamine, and a meth pipe. She was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm in public, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the South Placer Jail where her bail was set at $50,000.
