Toms River Shooting Victim Dies as Multiple Downtown Shooting Investigations Continue without Suspects
TOMS RIVER, NJ – 19-year-old Javon Cutler, of Bayville has died after suffering a gunshot wound to the head while leaving a downtown Toms River apartment complex on October 11th. Cutler was in a vehicle that was exiting the Toms River Apartments, located on Main Street at approximately 8:15 pm Sunday when a still at-large gunman opened fire on the vehicle he was in. Cutler was struck in the head and last night, died at 7:00 p.m. at Jersey Shore Medical Center. An autopsy will be performed on Cutler later today.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Toms River Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are continuing their investigation into this random shooting and another shooting that occurred in Downtown Toms River.
Authorities are still investigating a report of gunshots fired in the area of Washington Street in Toms River at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. There were no reported injuries. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
