Three taxi operators charged for insurance fraud

JERSEY CITY, NJ – On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit arrested three operators of multiple taxi businesses in Jersey City in connection with an insurance fraud scheme after a four-month investigation uncovered they were operating with uninsured and unregistered vehicles and drivers.

Aziz Ibrahim, age 63, of Jersey City, was charged with second-degree Insurance Fraud in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-4.6C and Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2A(2) and 2C:21-4.6A, a crime of the third degree.

Michael Ibrahim, age 23, of Jersey City, was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2A(2) and 2C:21-4.6A, a crime of the third degree, and Perjury in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:28-1A, a crime of the third degree.

Theresa Ibrahim, age 47, of Jersey City, was charged with two counts of third-degree Insurance Fraud in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-4.6A.

The taxi companies operated by the Ibrahim’s include A1 City Corp., 4M Enterprises Inc. and AAA City Bergen Inc. utilizing phone numbers (201) 433-6100 and (201) 432-1111.

During the investigation, which included undercover airport rides by law enforcement, it was discovered that vehicles being dispatched by these companies were not legally insured and that the vehicles were being driven by unregistered drivers. None of these companies had any vehicles that were lawfully registered with the City of Jersey City.
