Suspect in deadly Lexington shooting turned himself in, police said

LEXINGTON, SC – A gunman who shot and killed a 19-year-old turned himself into police to give his side of the story, police say.

“He showed up at LCSD headquarters last night. Detectives interviewed him and he provided an overview of the events that led up to the shooting,”police said. “No arrests have been made. Our work on the case continues.”

Last night, deputies sought the gunman, who remained nameless, in a deadly shooting. Lexington County deputies were searching for a suspect in a shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead.

The shooting happened Saturday afternoon in the 100 block of Miranda Drive.

“Based on information from witnesses, the shooter left the scene in a black Nissan Maxima, which we have located,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “We don’t have much else to go on at this point.”

Koon said detectives will continue interviewing neighbors who live near the shooting scene. Crime scene investigators processed the scene of the shooting and collected potential evidence. They also processed the car after it was towed.

“Those interviews will likely be helpful to us,” Koon said. “We’ll also be following up on any leads we generate based on tips that come in.”
