Phil Murphy addresses youth sports speakeasies…I know who you are…I know where you are

TRENTON, NJ – Talking about loopholes in his executive order banning indoor youth sports, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy issued a warning to youth sports programs running illegal black-market, clandestine youth sports operations, he knows who you are and where you are.

According to Matt Arco of the Star-Ledger, Karens across New Jersey have been complaining to the newspaper about sports teams continuing their indoor sports training, risking the lives of countless thousands of New Jerseyans.  The Ledger reporter asked the governor how he can crack down on those ruffians.

“We’ve also received a number of complaints about people using loopholes in your recent order banning indoor sports. They include hockey rinks running, quote, scale drills that are supposedly unaffiliated organized group team activity where, for example, kids were told to leave their jerseys at home,” Arco asked Murphy. “Another example is of gymnastics classes and things like that. You know, with youth sports not being able to be as closely monitored as college or professional, how do you crack down on these folks that are just finding these loopholes, while also not going after gyms and other venues that are allowed to be open under this indoor ban?”

The horror.  Murphy asked the reporter for a list of sports speakeasies to get the ball rolling on good old fashioned COVID-19 lockdown compliance.

“Listen, I don’t want to put you at risk, Matt but I’d like to know where those places are, those people are, because that does not make me happy. And yes, it’s not easy to enforce this stuff,” Murphy said. “I’ve said this, Pat I don’t think you disagree, there’s no amount of law enforcement in any American state that can get into every nook and cranny. If folks out there are willfully behaving badly, shame on you. Shame on you, like leaving your jersey at home. And by the way, you’re infecting the kid or the parent. I mean, who do you think you are? Come on. That is completely unacceptable.”

Murphy did not elaborate on the punitive actions of his COVID-19 compliance arm regarding his plan to act against the youth sports programs accused of violating his executive orders.
