TRENTON, NJ – Following up on the federal executive order signed by President Joe Biden on Friday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy was armed and ready to go when it came to rolling out the President’s order to residents and workers in New Jersey.
Murphy, on Monday, through Judy Persichilli, the commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health outlined who is now required to get vaccinated in order to keep their jobs. Those who do not get vaccinated could risk being terminated, Murphy and Biden had announced previously.
“The state has established mandates for some groups to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in our communities,” Persichilli said.
All workers, including teachers, drivers, security, consultants, janitors, administrators, and others working in New Jersey schools pre-k through grade must get vaccinated.
Also included in the Murphy mandate are those employees who work in the healthcare industry, state workers, colleges, universities all are required to be fully vaccinated or to be subject to COVID-19 testing at a minimum of one to two times per week.
The mandate dictates that vaccination must occur by October 12th.
Additionally, any businesses with more than 100 employees are to require vaccinations for all workers.
Anyone who works in the healthcare industry or anyone who works in hospitals, healthcare facilities are to be vaccinated in accordance with President Biden’s Friday order.
All federal executive branch employees and contractors are also now required to get vaccinated.
“There’s no option for regular testing,” Persichilli said.
According to the White House, members of Congress and their staff, U.S. postal workers, and illegal immigrants are not required to be vaccinated. The White House now claims immigrants from Afghanistan are having the COVID-19 vaccine made available to them, but have not said whether or not they are being forced to vaccinate upon entry into the United States.
Smaller companies with less than 100 employees are not required to force their employees to vaccinate, unless they fall under one of the industries outlined by Murphy and Biden.
