Later today, President Joe Biden will be hosting a press conference to talk about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Insiders say the Biden administration will unveil a six point plan to accomplish the following:
- Vaccinated the unvaccinated.
- Furthing protection of the vaccinated.
- Keeping schools safely open.
- Increasing testing and require masking.
- Protecing our econmic recovery.
- Improving care for those with COVID-19
The plan is similar to the one Biden laid out when he took office that blamed former U.S. President Donald J. Trump for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, Biden said he would, “Fix Trump’s testing-and-tracing fiasco to ensure all Americans have access to regular, reliable, and free testing.”
Under Trump, many states implemented their own testing and tracing programs, some very successful such as New Jersey when it came to testing, but not so much in the tracing category.
Biden still hasn’t backed down from his national mask mandate which could be one of the topics of today’s announcement.
Earlier this year, Biden said his administration would implement mask mandates nationwide by working with governors and mayors and by asking the American people to do what they do best: step up in a time of crisis.
“Experts say that if 95% of Americans wear masks between now and December, we can save almost 70,000 lives,” Biden said. “I call on every American to wear a mask when they are around people outside their household Every Governor to make that mandatory in their state Local authorities to also make it mandatory to buttress their state orders.”
Biden this week also claimed his new COVID-19 policy is not built around politics, but science.
“As we enter the height of the political season, politics should play no role in determining the safety and efficacy of any vaccine,” he said. “Put scientists in charge of all decisions on safety and efficacy; publicly release clinical data for any vaccine the FDA approves; authorize career staff to write a written report for public review and permit them to appear before Congress and speak publicly uncensored.”
This week, however, it was revealed that the powerful teacher’s union played an influential role in the CDC’s guidance to require students and faculty in schools to wear face masks for the new school year.
He is scheduled to begin his speech at 5 pm. You can watch it below:
