NEW YORK, NY – A bombshell revelation from a recording of a video conference call held with New York state Democrat and Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa exposes the governor and his staff intentionally hiding actual nursing home death figures.
And it was done for political reasons.
In a revealing article by the New York Post, DeRosa said Cuomo and his team hid the real figures because they were afraid President Trump would launch a federal investigation into the matter.
“We froze out of fear that the numbers would be used against us,” DeRosa told fellow Democrats in the call.
DeRosa said Trump was attacking New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and California Governor Gavin Newsome were all in the President’s crosshairs as he accused each governor of killing thousands of senior citizens by sending COVID-19 infected patients into nursing homes. Last month, a bombshell report was issued by the New York Attorney General’s Office claiming Cuomo under-reported COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes by as much as 50%.
“Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation,” DeRosa told Democrats in the conference call.
Democrats were not happy about what Cuomo did, it even cost some their re-election being put into a position where they could not defend against political attack ads and mailers that tied them to Cuomo’s coverup.
“Who cares if they died in the hospital, died in a nursing home? They died,” Cuomo said after the report was released by the Attorney General’s office.
It is unknown if the Department of Justice is conducting an investigation into the matter.
