NEW YORK CITY, NY – The time for asking people nicely to get vaccinated has passed says New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio. Now, he will begin mandating COVID-19 vaccines in the city, starting with the city’s public workforce.
When asked on MSNBC’s Morning Joe show about a vaccine mandate, De Blasio answered, “Yes, we are climbing a ladder. But if that’s not enough, I think we got to be ready to climb the ladder more. We’ve got to put pressure on this situation.”
De Blasio doubled down and like Governor Andrew Cuomo who said he will knock on doors and throw people cars, De Blasio said he will start shaking people.
“We’ve got to shake people at this point and say, ‘Come on now.’ We tried voluntary. We could not have been more kind and compassionate. Free testing, everywhere you turn, incentives, friendly, warm embrace. The voluntary phase is over,” he added.
