Cambridge man ordered dog to attack police, leading to dog’s shooting death

CAMBRIDGE, MA  -On 01/28/21 at approximately 12:15 pm officers from the Cambridge Police Department were attempting to execute an arrest warrant on Alfred Floyd 34, who was found sitting in his vehicle in the 700 block of Rosemont Avenue.

Floyd was wanted for Robbery, 1st-degree assault, and other related charges regarding having his dog attack subjects. When officers approached Floyd, he refused commands and rammed an unmarked police vehicle. While officers were attempting to remove Floyd from the vehicle the dog that was in the vehicle jumped from the vehicle and attempted to attack officers. Floyd resisted arrest and had to be physically restrained. After attempting to tase the dog did not prevail, officers, unfortunately, had to shoot the animal. Floyd will be served with the arrest warrant and additional charges will be forthcoming for assaulting the officers on the scene. Floyd is also wanted throughout other jurisdictions including the State of Georgia.
