Andrew Cuomo’s Year Long New York Lockdown Isn’t Working and Now He Finally Realizes It

NEW YORK, NY – After spending the past year telling New Yorkers that it’s not safe to go outside, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has reversed course.  This week, Cuomo, who has been a staunch supporter of stay-at-home orders, business lockdowns, remote working, and going after anyone who defies his orders is now saying New York needs to get back to work.  Without Donald Trump to blame for the woes of his state and America’s largest city, New York City, Cuomo now realizes the buck stops here.

Cuomo has done everything right in his eyes.  Heck, he won an Emmy and wrote a book in 2020.   He boasts his state’s response to the coronavirus as a model for the nation, but it doesn’t take much to see that New York’s economy is in a downward spiral, businesses are shutting down or leaving the state and so are the people.  Crime in New York City is at a record high.

Despite doing everything he can to save New York, the state is dying and so are its people.  The masks aren’t working.  Social distancing isn’t working. Shutdowns aren’t working.  None of it is working any better than his plan last March to send infected COVID-19 patients into the state’s nursing homes, leading to the deaths of thousands of senior citizens.  New York leads the nation in COVID-19 deaths with nearly 40,000, despite being the 4th most populated state.

As of January 20th, Cuomo realizes he can’t blame President Trump, which many now think is the reason for his sudden awakening.

“We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely,” Cuomo said on Monday.
