Two weeks ago, President Joe Biden had his summer vacation interrupted when Taliban forces took over Afghanistan and entered Kabul. He interrupted his vacation to make a statement in D.C. before returning, but that return was cut short after ISIS killed 13 U.S. servicemembers.
Now, as the nation reels with over 100 Americans still stranded in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, Biden resumed his Delaware vacation for the Labor Day weekend. Many on the right have criticized Biden for resuming his vacation in a time of crisis.
“Americans are still stranded in Afghanistan and Biden is off to Delaware for vacation again,” Congressman Andy Biggs said.
While the media blasted Texas Senator Ted Cruz for taking a vacation after snowstorms crippled the state’s power grid, they have been silent on Biden’s departure during the time of crisis.
“Biden goes on vacation after leaving hundreds of Americans stranded in Afghanistan,” GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said. “Biden left Americans behind in Afghanistan – he should not be on vacation.”
Cruz now fears the situation in Afghanistan is an emerging hostage crisis as the President vacations.
“Joe Biden abandoned Americans in Afghanistan. Members of Congress, including me and my office, have been working around the clock to get them out – and for days Biden’s State Dept. couldn’t even get out of its own way. Now there are deeply disturbing reports of a hostage crisis,” Cruz said.
