After shooting his victim, he dismembered him and threw him in the garbage, now he’s heading to jail for 81 years

Rochester, NY– Wednesday, July 28, 2021, a Monroe County Court Judge sentenced 32-year-old Aries Ash to 81 Years to Life in the New York State Department of Corrections.

On June 24th , Aries Ash was convicted by a jury of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Manslaughter in the 1st Degree, two counts of Robbery in the 1st Degree, Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd Degree for the events surrounding the murder of Maximillion Cook. On March 23, 2019, after a disagreement, Aries Ash shot and killed Maximillion Cook. Following the murder, Ash dismembered the victim’s body, separating his limbs and his head into garbage bags.

He then burnt the rest of the body and evidence. Part of Maximillion Cook’s body was found in an abandoned home in Syracuse, NY. Also on March 23, 2019, Aries Ash forcibly stole property from and kidnapped a second victim following the murder of Maximillion Cook. The second victim later escaped. Once Maximillion Cook was reported missing, a New York State Trooper located Mr. Cook’s remains.

With assistance from the second victim, the Rochester Police Department identified Aries Ash and his co-defendant. On March 26, 2019, the Rochester Police Department attempted to pull over Ash’s vehicle, which led to a police chase that concluded on Clifford Avenue. Aries Ash was arrested for the murder.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant District Attorney Julie Hahn, Chief of the Major Felony Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Camille Ingino, of the Non Violent Felony Bureau. “Today’s lengthy sentence is appropriate for the heinous crimes committed by Aries Ash,” said Special Assistant District Attorney Julie Hahn. “He had no regard for Maximillion Cook’s life or his remains and our community is a much safer place with Aries Ash behind bars.” “We are pleased with today’s appropriate sentence,” said District Attorney Sandra Doorley. “With Aries Ash serving a long prison sentence, it is our hope that Mr. Cook’s loved ones, the kidnapping victim and our community feel safer and that justice has been served.”
